Day 35, Intermittent Fasting on My Birthday Instead of Ice Cream and Cake

“The best of all medicines are resting and fasting.”

Here is my Trend report since the start of this journey.  Two days are missing.  However, all nutrients are green except for calories.  I have averaged 272 calories under budget per day.   That predicts my loss at 2.33 pounds for 30 days.  My actual loss has been 5.95 pounds, so my metabolic rate must be higher than what Cronometer predicts.  I already knew that, but it is satisfying to get more evidence.

I called my fast for last night Long Fast.  It was for 20:51 hours.  Though a bit challenging, it was doable.  I am happy I can still do it.  Now I am sipping a green drink, thinking of the best way to spend my birthday.  For sure, I do not want to eat birthday cake or ice cream.

I am planning to visit the neighbors this afternoon.  My husband’s son is coming this morning.

This graph shows my net calories in blue against my weight in red.  I had to bring my net calories down to get my scale down.  If I let them go up again, my weight would plateau or go up.

You probably want to have this fun with your own data.  Consider using Cronometer.  The last blue point is my net calories for today, which does not mean anything because the day is barely started.  However, the latest redpoint, which coincidentally is in the same place, is meaningful because I weighed that this morning.

Two points where my net calories were very high (higher than what is shown) are September 18th and October 11th.   Those are my two incomplete food logs.   You could say I messed up.  However,  social consideration resulted in me deciding to eat when I usually would not have.  They were value judgments.  Whether they were worth what happened to my weight, I will decide in the end.

Diet Diary

Today, I followed a two-meal diet.  Both meals were substantial.  It is now 9:34 PM, and I have not broken my fast since this morning, 9:56 hours ago.

EVENING PRAYER

Dear Lord,

Since getting a new book from the library today, I have spent my time reading and got most of the book read.

Several people called for my birthday, and Facebook friends sent dozens of birthday wishes.

I also visited with neighbors.  My neighbors usually serve me two or three ounces of lightly salted mixed nuts while I am there.  Today, I had a big lunch and did not intend to eat any nuts.  I took a zip-lock bag to take home the nuts just in case.  Today, they did not give me any mixed nuts, so it worked out perfectly.

It has been a happy birthday.

I am waiting for the dryer.  My husband needs some clothes tonight.

Amen.

Next Morning

The resumption of intermittent fasting and eating two meals-a-day is having an effect.  Now I am at 51.8 kg.  That is the best birthday gift for me.  I can pass up the ice cream and cake!
